The by-election of the Sreepur Upazila Reporters Club was held, Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan was elected as the president unopposed.

The by-election of the Sreepur Upazila Reporters Club of Gazipur was held, Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan was elected as the president unopposed.

The last date for filing nomination papers for the said election was (13th December 2025) Saturday. Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan, as the only candidate for the post of president, purchased and filed the nomination papers within the stipulated time, as there was no other candidate, there was no need for voting, hence the stipulated time for the by-election.

(27th December 2025) Saturday, as the Chief Election Commissioner for the by-election, Naidul Islam Nahid. Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan was formally announced as the president at the New Popular Restaurant at Mauna Chowrasta. Besides, the former president of the organization, Md. Mobarak Hossain, was dismissed four months ago by a joint decision of all the members on charges of anti-organization activities. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Fakir, the vice-president of the organization, served as the president for these four months. This by-election was organized to fill the vacant post of president.

Acting president Md. Mosharraf Hossain Fakir handed over the responsibility of the president to Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan. Assistant election commissioners were Fahad Al Abid and Mintu Mia. The event lasted from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The newly elected president of the Sreepur Upazila Reporters Club, Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan, is currently serving as the Gazipur district staff reporter of the daily Pratidin Kagoj. Besides, he is playing an active role against journalistic torture nationwide as a member of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Journalist Torture Prevention Cell.

In response to taking charge of the Sreepur Upazila Reporters Club, Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan said, if everyone unites, it is possible to organize the Sreepur Upazila Reporters Club better. Leaving all the mistakes and controversies of the past behind, the organization will be run in a new style. This organization is not personal to anyone, every member has equal power here.

He also said that three new members joined the organization on the day of taking charge and expressed hope to include more young and emerging journalists as members in the future.

General Secretary of the Sreepur Upazila Reporters Club, Md. Abul Kashem said, Md. Ruhul Amin Sujan is an honest, brave and objective journalist. He always works for the rights and security of journalists. We believe that under his leadership the organization will be better organized and will take shape as a model organization.

Journalists from various print, electronic and online media working in Sreepur, as well as various political figures, were present at the event.
