Khan Selim Rahman elected as an advisor to Human Aid International.

Founding President of Bangladesh Central Press Club (B.C.P.C), prominent journalist and human rights activist Khan Selim Rahman has been elected as a permanent member of the Advisory Council of Human Aid International. His election has been met with great satisfaction and optimism in the country’s human rights arena, journalistic community and civil society.

(27th December 2025) On Saturday, at 3:00 PM, at a pre-scheduled emergency meeting of the Policy-Making Council of Human Aid International, he was unanimously nominated as a permanent member of the Advisory Council. The meeting was attended by top policymakers, advisors and executive officers of the organization.

After lengthy discussions and reviews, this decision was taken considering Khan Selim Rahman’s long experience, integrity and impartial role in journalism, human rights protection and humanitarian activities.

The current political, social and human rights situation in Bangladesh is going through various crises and challenges. In the context of human rights violations, social discrimination, freedom of expression and obstacles to the establishment of justice, policymakers expressed hope that the active participation of an experienced and conscious personality like Khan Selim Rahman will make the organization’s activities more effective.

Khan Selim Rahman has been actively associated with journalism and human rights movements for a long time. As the founding president of the Bangladesh Central Press Club, he has been playing an important role in protecting the rights of media workers, practicing independent journalism and improving professional standards. Under his leadership, the organization has been established as a strong and acceptable platform in the country’s journalist community.

Along with journalism, his contribution to humanitarian and social activities is also commendable. Standing by the helpless during disasters, protesting against human rights violations and uncompromising stance against social injustice and corruption have made him known to the general public as the “peddler of humanity”. He is currently serving as the editor of the daily Matri Jagat and Bangladesh Crime Sangbad.

As an editor, he has earned the trust of the readership through objective, responsible and courageous journalism.

Reacting to this, Khan Selim Rahman said,
“I express to all the leaders of the organization that I feel a great responsibility as well as an honor to be included in the advisory board of an international human rights organization like Human Aid International. Protecting human rights, establishing justice and speaking out for the oppressed are my lifelong commitment. Insha Allah, I will work all-out to implement the goals and objectives of the organization with my experience and ability.”

He also said,
“Journalism and human rights complement each other. I accept it as my responsibility to have the opportunity to work internationally to reveal the truth and protect human rights.”

As an international human rights organization, Human Aid International has been conducting human rights protection, advocacy for the oppressed and humanitarian assistance activities worldwide. Those concerned believe that Khan Selim Rahman’s inclusion at the policy-making level of the organization will have a positive impact on future strategic decisions and activities.

In this regard, the organization’s Assistant Secretary General, Saida Sultana, said that Khan Selim Rahman’s participation in the Advisory Council has been confirmed and he will soon actively participate in the organization’s policy-making and program-based meetings.

Leaders of the Bangladesh Central Press Club (B.C.P.C), journalist society, well-wishers and various social organizations congratulated and wished Khan Selim Rahman on this achievement.

They expressed hope that under his advice and guidance, Human Aid International will play a stronger role in protecting human rights and will make an effective contribution to establishing the just rights of the people of the country.
