(SMM Akash returns from Tarash)
The Chalanbil Literary Conference and Jamal Uddin Literary Award-2025 were held at the academic building of the School for the Intellectually Handicapped on Friday (December 26, 2025) at 10 am, organized by the Samiron Memorial Public Library, in Naogaon Bazar, Tarash Upazila, Sirajganj district.
Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Munnu, President of Samiron Memorial Public Library, presided over the event.
The chief guest was:
Professor Dr. Monirul Haque Chairman, Department of Physical Education and Sports Science,
Rajshahi University.
Present as special guests were:
Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, Associate Professor,
Ishwardi Government College, Pabna.
Poet and researcher Nur Mustafa Babu,
Lecturer, Notre Dame College, Dhaka.
Poet Firoz Alam,
President – Ullapara Writers’ Council, Sirajganj.
Writers, poets, and literary journalists from ten upazilas of the Chalanbil region were present.
Poets, writers, and artists from Chalanbil made the event enjoyable with literary research essay readings, poetry readings, song and dance performances.
The guests made the Chalanbil Literary Conference and Jamal Uddin Literary Award ceremony most interesting by giving their insightful speeches and by singing songs by Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Munnu and Principal Rezaul Karim Helal.
Like every year, this year one person is nominated for the award. Jamal Uddin Literary Award-2025 Nominated Poet
Shahjahan Ali, (Village: North Mohanpur, P.O. Box Kuchiamara,
Upazila Ullapara, District: Sirajganj) was nominated. The cruel irony of fate, poet Shahjahan Ali, passed away on December 25, 2025, leaving behind the illusion of the world with a proud heart.
He was supposed to come to receive the award today, December 26, 2025, but he could not come. May Allah grant the poet a high position in Jannatul Firdaus.
On behalf of the poet, cash awards, certificates, and trophies were presented to the poet’s sons and grandchildren.
At the event, poetry books written by poets from different regions of Chalanbil were presented to the readers of Samiron Smriti Gana Pathagaar. Smriti Pata poetry book written by the late poet Dr. Abdul Halim Master of Kachugari village of Failjana union of Chatmohar upazila of Pabna district, writer Md. Abdul Hannan of Pabakhali village of Failjana union of Chatmohar upazila of Pabna district
The book written by him was handed over to Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Munnu, President of Samiron Smriti Gana Pathagare, by Pabna district’s prominent poet-columnist, journalist-lyricist, environmental and human rights activist lecturer SM Moniruzzaman Akash.
The Chalanbil Literary Conference and Jamal Uddin Literary Award-2025 program was moderated by Rezaul Karim Helal, Principal – M.A. Samad Technical and BM College, Handial, Chatmohar, Pabna.
